Our January 2026 newsletter is out now!

Written by Hayley

Our first newsletter of 2026 is available now and is packed with things to look forward to, including our trip to The Hepworth Wakefield in March!

Highlights from this quarter’s edition include details of:

  • The success of our Christmas prize draw and a list of the winning ticket numbers and prizes! Thank you to everyone who supported this annual fundraiser, which raised more than ever before!
  • Our Winter Warmer event here at the St. Swithun’s Community Centre, on Wednesday 28th January. Places are still available, and must be booked by Wednesday 21st January please.
  • Our next new style Demo and Wellbeing Day, to be held at St. Swithun’s Community Centre on Monday 2nd March. In addition to our advertised guests, we have just confirmed today that the Money Smart Team from Wakefield Council will also be joining us. They will be sharing information about the Energy Debt Fund, and can also provide advice and support on a range of topics, including money and bills, general debt advice, budgeting advice, mortgage advice, and help with white goods i.e. cookers, fridges etc.
  •  A trip to The Hepworth Wakefield, on Wednesday 11th March. We will be running a morning and an afternoon visit, and places are extremely limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Our cost of living support fund, which is open again for the fourth year running and is there to help anyone from the visually impaired community who finds themselves in financial hardship this winter.

Also included is information about all our regular groups and activities, including Living Well with Sight Loss and Art Beyond Vision!

Big thanks to this quarter’s sponsor, our friends at Optelec/Enhanced Vision, who have placed an advert on the back page of this quarter’s newsletter and will be joining us at our Demo and Wellbeing Day on Monday 2nd March.

You can download a copy of the newsletter in PDF format here. If you receive a copy by post, these are being sent out today so should be with you in the next few days. Braille copies will take slightly longer.
