How we are funded

We are an independent, local charity and are entirely dependent on voluntary contributions through donations and grant funding to keep running. We are very grateful to Wakefield Council, with whom we have a grant funding agreement which  supports our home visiting service and the delivery of our Living Well With Sight Loss courses, and to the numerous individuals, Trusts and Foundations that provide funding. We do not receive any central Government funding.

Donating online

You can donate securely and safely online via our CAF Donate and our Facebook page. If you are a UK taxpayer, remember to complete the Gift Aid section which means your gift is worth 25% more.

One-off gifts

Donations can be made by cash, cheque, postal order or via BACS. Please make cheques and postal orders payable to Wakefield District Sight Aid or WDSA. We do not advise cash donations to be sent by post but we are happy to accept cash donations in person at our office.

Our bank details for BACS payments are:

Bank name: Virgin Money
Account name: Wakefield District Sight Aid
Sort code: 05-02-00
Account number: 74417942

Regular gifts

Supporting our work through a regular donation is massively helpful for us, because it helps us to have some clarity over what funding we might expect in a typical year. No amount is too small, simply download the standing order mandate here, complete it and return to your bank.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete a Gift Aid declaration (you can download one here) and return it to Nicola Ellis (by post or by email to operations@wdsa.org.uk). This enables us to reclaim 25% of your gift from the government at no extra cost to you.
