Events for children and young people with sight loss and their families

We run regular events after school for children and young people with a visual impairment and their families. Our activities include bowling, trampolining, sledging, parties, craft activities, and more!

To find out more about our family events, please contact Hayley on 01924 215555 or email ceo@wdsa.org.uk. We also have a closed WDSA Family Facebook group where parents and carers can share ideas and get support, as well as finding out about events, offers, and activities relevant to families with a VI child.

Feedback from one parent said:

"I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the invitation to the picnic today. My daughter had a lovely time...It was lovely for her to meet another VI child too, particularly as they are the same age."

In partnership with our friends at Wakefield & District Society for Deaf People, we run a monthly soft play session on the fourth Wednesday of the month, at Cheeky Monkeys Wakefield. This is for children aged 0-5 with sensory loss (hearing and/or visual) and Children of Deaf Adults. Please contact us to find out when the next session is taking place. Please note that pre-booking is required for these events (a booking link will be supplied).

Our partners at A1 Football Factory in Pontefract also run football sessions for children and young people with visual impairments. Please get in touch to find out more and register your child's interest.
